Addictions 101

The recent national media attention about the devastating impact of opioids is a constant reminder that mental health issues are often compounded by addiction. This presentation will provide information about risk factors for drug addiction, physiological changes in the brain as a result of substance use and discussion regarding prevention and treatment strategies.

Chris Ferry, MA, NCSP, Executive Director of KidsPeace PA Community Programs

Chris Ferry has been ED of PA Community programs, consisting of four outpatient programs, three partial hospitals, and four autism-specific programs since 2012 and has been with KidsPeace for 20 years. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance. He is leading the way for KidsPeace to open a Drug and Alcohol outpatient clinic in Allentown this year.

Training is free! 

Continuing education credits are available for a fee. NASW-PA Chapter is a co-sponsor of this workshop.

FEE:$45 NASW-PA Members/ $60 non-members, 3 CEs will be awarded for completion of this course. NASW has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36), Marriage and Family Therapist (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.
